This notice explains what happens to your information when you use the Samsung Education Store form on this site. It follows the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Who is responsible
This site is run by Carina "Rina" Tiangco. For any privacy question or request, email contact@carinatiangco.com.
What I collect
When you submit the form, I store:
- Your email address
- Whether you said you have a student (.edu) email. I don't ask for or store the .edu address itself.
- Whether you opted in to emails about future discounts
- When you agreed to this notice
- The access code you were given, if any
- A scrambled version of your IP address. This is a one-way hash that can't be turned back into your IP address. It's used only to limit repeated submissions.
Why I collect it
- To give you your access code or student instructions, and to email you a copy
- To make sure each person gets only one code, and to block spam and automated sign-ups
- If you opted in, to email you about future Samsung discounts
- If codes run out, to email you when more are available
I process this information because you consented to it when you submitted the form.
Who else handles it
I don't sell your information. These service providers process it on my behalf, only to run this form:
- Supabase: the database where submissions are stored (servers in Singapore)
- Cloudflare: website hosting and bot protection (Turnstile)
- Resend: sending the confirmation and update emails
Store links and Samsung
The "Open the Education Store" link goes through Optimise, Samsung's affiliate partner, so Samsung can tell the visit came from me. Like any tracked link, Optimise records that click (for example your browser and the time). This form doesn't send Optimise or Samsung your email address or anything else it collects. When you shop, Samsung handles your account and order under Samsung's own privacy policy.
How long I keep it
- Repeated-submission records (the scrambled IP address): deleted after 24 hours
- Form submissions and waitlist entries: deleted automatically after March 31, 2027, three months after the current codes expire. If you opted in to discount emails, I keep just your email address and that choice.
- Discount email list: kept until you unsubscribe. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act, you can ask to see the information I hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or withdraw your consent at any time. Email contact@carinatiangco.com and I'll respond as soon as I can.
If you think your information has been mishandled, you can also complain to the National Privacy Commission.
